Oppgave:
Sølvrev was commissioned by Universal Music Norway / Plexus Records to create the music video for RUBEN's song "Candy". The video was to create a colourful and playful setting for RUBEN's new single and sound, with clear references to 1970s aesthetics. It was to depict the tension and intensity that arises when you become captivated by another person, and the dynamics and range of the emotional register – from confidence, playfulness and self-expression to desire, longing and fascination.
Løsning:
By placing RUBEN in a stylish and glamorous setting, we explored the themes of the song through stylised choreography, clean photography and playful performance sequences. The themes of the song and RUBEN's desire were first reflected in the aesthetics, the photography, the movements, the facial expressions and the looks RUBEN gave, before we gradually introduce another person into the space who interacts with RUBEN in a stylised choreography that clearly expresses the feelings of the song. This is further reinforced by the aesthetics, the styling, the 70s look and the location – a visual landscape where all the pieces are in place to truly showcase a new side of RUBEN as the backdrop to his performance.
Resultat:
The video was released during Pride Month 2021, to great engagement from RUBEN's fans and enormous enthusiasm from the client themselves!
