Many young people struggle to fit into today's school system, partly due to restlessness and difficulties with concentration. They may simply not be built to sit still on a school bench for 6–8 hours. For those who don't fit in, it can be difficult to find their place in society – which in turn can erode self-confidence. Many of these young people are brimming with great ideas, creative energy and imagination – all useful qualities for starting your own business. They just need to see it for themselves. "I am a classic school dropout. I was restless, difficult with teachers and unmotivated throughout my entire time at school, and that was the basis for a lot of negative thinking during my teenage years. But it turned out that qualities like sitting perfectly still for 6 hours, passively absorbing knowledge you have no interest in, or being as 'obedient' as possible, were not particularly important qualities for becoming a successful entrepreneur. That is why I am passionate about showing these young people exactly what they are made of – and that they are absolutely not losers." – Terje André Helgheim, Entrepreneur and customer adviser. On this basis, Sølvrev has, in collaboration with Rothaugen Lower Secondary School, carried out Kremmerånd – an exciting opportunity where students were given the chance to use their creativity to develop a business idea and business plan to present to a jury at Sølvrev. During the presentation, students were to set out a financial plan, a market analysis, a detailed description of the product or service they wanted to sell, and a marketing plan. The goal was to convince the jury that this was a viable business plan that could have worked and generated income. Our aim with this collaboration was to awaken the creative spirit in the participating young people, let them see that this is something they can actually achieve in the future, and above all let them experience genuine mastery in a completely different setting.
