At this year's SRF Kuben, Sølvrev took home the award for best film.
Friday the 13th is considered by many to be the ultimate day of bad luck. For Sølvrev, it was quite the opposite – on that very day we walked away with our first cube for the music video Cure for Me, made for and with the internationally acclaimed artist Aurora. Leading the production were director and producer duo Sigurd Fossen and Christer Dyngeland.
"The song was inspired by the debate around conversion therapy and was created as a tribute to everyone who stands out and experiences hatred and discrimination for being who they are. One of the briefs we were given was that the video should be inspired by Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody, with references to Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland – and in the spirit of the song's energy, we wanted to create a video where Aurora could express herself freely, playfully and almost rebelliously," says director Fossen about the production.
As part of the SRF Kuben jury's reasoning, the effects and use of lighting were highlighted as key factors behind the win, along with choreography and theme: "The jury highlights a fantastic choreography and composition throughout the entire film. A clear tribute to all those who stand out and experience hatred and discrimination."
«Juryen trekker frem en fantastisk koreografi og oppbygning gjennom hele filmen. En tydelig hyllest til alle de som skiller seg ut og opplever hat og diskriminering».
Etter flere nominasjoner tidligere, er duoen godt fornøyd med årets pris
"After many years of nominations, it felt amazing to finally win a cube! This is a video we are very proud of, and it is great to receive recognition from the industry for what you create. This cube is a wonderful acknowledgement of everyone who was involved in the project, and the whole team at Sølvrev!"
The video has now been viewed over 17 million times and is celebrated by fans around the world.
